Mary Shelley (numele complet: Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley) a fost o scriitoare si poet britanica, ale carei lucrari au devenit clasice ale literaturii universale. S-a nascut pe 30 august 1797, in Londra, fiind fiica unui grup literar important din epoca, formata din tatal sau William Godwin, un filozof si scriitor, si mama sa Mary Wollstonecraft, una dintre primii feministi si scriitoare.
