In detective stories it’s quite usual for pearls to go missing. But what about pearls that mysteriously appear? Sherlock Holmes faces his second baffling case when he’s visited by a young woman, Mary Morston, whose father has vanished. It’s been ten years since he disappeared – and every year for the past six years, she’s been sent a huge, shiny pearl by an unknown person. Are these strange events linked?
