Tolkien (născut ca John Ronald Reuel Tolkien) a fost un scriitor, filolog și profesor universitar englez, cunoscut mai ales pentru lucrările sale de fictiune fantasy, cum ar fi "Războiul Stelelor" și "Hobbitul". S-a născut pe 3 ianuarie 1892, în Bloemfontein, sudul Africii, dar a crescut în Anglia, unde a studiat la Universitatea din Oxford.
