About author(s): Dr. Nathan Hare holds two Ph.D's (in clinical psychology and sociology). He is on the faculty of San Francisco State University, where he was the first person hired to coordinate a black studies program in the United States. Dr. Hare, a recent winner of the National Award for distinguished scholarly contributions to black studies, is in the private practice of psychotherapy.
