Becoming Eli

This graphic novel introduces us to Eli’s world – in fact, the world of thousands and thousands of children abandoned in residential institutions, who are mostly growing into disabled adults. The book presents the character’s evolution from an abandoned child to an adult that's able to take care of herself and also be a disabilities’ rights advocate fighting for deinstitutionalization. Every chapter is based on an interview with Eli, that I have taken myself, that follows all the key moments of her life in a chronological order.
